Home Sweet Home

The Great Trek to our New Home

On Saturday the 22nd of May 2021 our Ubuntu Team alongside our amazing collaborators & sponsors took on the 20-hour journey from North West South Africa to the beautiful Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa. The Great Trek to our new Home.

On Saturday during the darting of the Big Cats, Dr Pete Caldwell diagnosed both Melena & Zuka with medical conditions that required urgent treatment. The decision was then made for Melena & Zuka to be admitted at Dr Pete Caldwell’s Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic for their treatments – and will join their Ubuntu feline family SOON! And so, another journey with Melena & Zuka in the next week. ( See our previous Blog Update)

60 people, 20 vehicles, 14 Big cats & one successful journey. Our Ubuntu Big Cats have been released into their new camps & are enjoying their new surroundings. And the first sign of a happy Lion

– hearing the Ubuntu Lion prides roaring!

Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary’s new home, situated in the Mountains heart of the Garden Route was beautifully designed by Jurg for each of our Ubuntu residents. Zamba & the girls – have an amazing, elevated view over the farm, Adam & Eve have their very own African Bush to stroll through & make their own, the Jacaranda Pride (Ukraine5), have a massive enclosure with trees & bush to enjoy to their heart’s content, Tika & Maxima-Kanya have their very own Jungles that they have fallen in-love with.

WE ARE HOME.
