The Great Trek is upon us | Press Release

The Covid Pandemic has wreaked havoc internationally, millions suffered, many people passed away,

businesses collapsed and people lost their jobs, houses and hope.

Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary was not spared the effects of Covid but we, and the precious animals we care for, were carried through this terrible ordeal by so many people donating and sponsoring food for the animals and our associated costs. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Early 2020 we also received notice to vacate the land Ubuntu is leasing in North West Province.

Team Ubuntu decided to take this challenge head on, persevere and find a solution to this problem.

With the aid of a financial investor, Andre de Goede, we managed to purchase 1650 hectares of land between the most beautiful mountains, in the Oudsthoorn / Mosselbay districts of the Western Cape and we are excited and proud to announce that we've completed construction of the most awesome camps for our lions and tigers. "The best and most amazing camps we've built so far in our lives. We cannot wait to see them exploring their new permanent homes." commented Jurg Olsen and team leader Robert de Bruyn.

We've dubbed the relocation "The Great Trek" simply because it is such a daunting task, relocating 14 large predators over a distance of 1200km!! said Lukas Swart, Ubuntu director.

Trekking our 14 beloved lions and tigers is penned down for the 22nd of May 2021, and we will need all the help we can get, financial, products, services and financial donations are all needed. A list of essential items will be posted soon.

We are planning to share the Great Trek on our social media platforms so that you can join us on this amazing journey, trekking with us, as we travel through 4 Provinces to the new Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Cape, and the release of the lions and tigers into their new camps.

The countdown has started...The Great Trek from North to South...The Spirit of Ubuntu🐾
